For most couples, I recommend reaching out 12 to 18 months in advance. This is the “sweet spot” where you have your venue locked in, but your other major vendors are still available. Booking this far out guarantees that you get your first choice of photographer, rather than settling for whoever is left.

The Riviera Maya has a distinct high season. From November through May, the weather is perfect—lower humidity and minimal rain. Consequently, these dates are in extreme demand. If you are planning a Saturday wedding in February or March, you should aim for the 18-month mark to be safe.

If you are getting married on a Friday or Saturday, competition for dates is fierce. However, destination weddings often take place on Thursdays or Sundays. If you are flexible with your date or are choosing a weekday celebration, you may have more flexibility with a shorter booking window.

Even if we have had a consultation, the date remains open to other couples until the contract is signed and the deposit is paid.
