His soft and quiet demeanor was great; most of the time you didn’t even know he was there, and he was able to capture you right in the moment –not stiff or posed. What you get are beautiful, genuine, emotional photographs.

~ Wedding photography on the beach ~

Weddings in Playa del Carmen usually take place on the beach. Getting ready in a nearby hotel and having the ceremony outside is the standard. Typically a wedding arch and chairs are set on the sand. In the background, we always have the Caribbean sea with turquoise blue water, and sometimes we can observe the fauna of the place, mainly the turtle nests. As an experienced wedding photographer, I recommend scheduling the ceremony in the afternoon to enjoy a pleasant temperature and the gentle breeze of the sea. Le Reve Hotel and The Fives Azul Beach are recommended venues. Below you can see some photo shoots. I hope you like them!

~ Photo shoots of small weddings ~

Unlike other places, Playa del Carmen has the peculiarity of integrating modern constructions with the natural environment in a balanced way. It is about having the best of both worlds, the calm and harmony of nature, and the comforts of civilization. It is straightforward to switch from one location to another since the town is small and its green areas extensive. At weddings, as photographers, we always try to include those two dimensions; the natural and the architectural aspect. Interior design is also present in hotels, which adds a touch of elegance to the wedding photos. A good example is Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. There are many different venues, and you can customize the experience according to your needs.

~ Wedding photos in beach clubs ~

Beach clubs are characteristic of the region, and they are a great choice if you want to have a reception with afew guests. Instead of placing everything on the sand, you will have a venue equipped with all services right in front of the beach. This way, you can enjoy a comfortable wedding reception without traveling too much. Beach clubs usually offer a restaurant, bar, and DJ service for the final party. We always find it interesting as photographers since beach clubs have a singular personality. Punta Venado Beach Club is a good example. You can also find nice ones, such as Bucannos, on Cozumel’s island, a real paradise! Below you can see a selection of the best wedding photoshoots.

~ Best hotels for wedding pictures ~

Playa del Carmen’s resorts are not excessively large; they are medium-sized. Usually, green areas surround them, and you can get around in a golf cart. They are always near the beach, so the variety of spots for photography is fascinating. You can find modern designs and innovative buildings, lakes, bridges, floating houses, wonderful pools, and many architectural curiosities. If you don’t want to split the wedding into different locations, having an all-inclusive experience, the best choice is a resort. A suitable venue is the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. Depending on the area, you can also find smaller luxury resorts that offer a cozy and bohemian atmosphere. One highly recommended is the Viceroy Riviera Maya.

~ Engagement photos in Playa del Carmen ~

Before the wedding, couples usually visit the area seeking places for their future celebration. Sometimes they take advantage of the occasion to schedule an engagement photo shoot with their prospective wedding photographer. This way, we have the opportunity to meet and work together in a relaxed and casual situation. We recommend pre-wedding sessions since they are useful to break the ice, get used to the camera, and get some lovely photos of the couple’s life before the wedding. An excellent venue for that is Rosewood Mayakoba. Please, take a look!
