Jenny and Ian brought us on board as their wedding photographers, and they went for the full 8-hour photo shoot. We had the pleasure of capturing their big day, which went down in October at the super classy Secrets The Vine Cancun. This swanky hotel sits right smack in the middle of Cancun’s hotel zone, and it’s fancy as heck!
Our day started with Jenny and Ian getting all dolled up in this snazzy Master Suite that boasted a stunning ocean view. Seriously, folks, that view was to die for! Then came the big moment. The ceremony went down right on the beach, and let me tell you, it was so darn intimate. There’s something about waves crashing in the background that just sets the mood perfectly, you know?

What are the best locations for wedding photos at the resort?

I know exactly where to take you for the most stunning backdrops, from the iconic “Wine Wall” in the lobby to the breathtaking ocean views from the pool deck and the pristine white sands of the Hotel Zone beach. Does the resort package include photography services?
While some Secrets The Vine packages include basic photography, it is often limited regarding hours and image count. My clients usually prefer hiring me independently to ensure full-day coverage—capturing everything from your getting-ready moments in the suite to the late-night reception party. I will help you build your wedding timeline to take full advantage of this soft light, ensuring your oceanfront photos look dreamy rather than overexposed, while perfectly timing the transition from your ceremony to the reception.
Can we get sunset photos over the ocean at Secrets The Vine?
It is important to remember that in the Hotel Zone, the sun rises over the Caribbean Sea and sets over the Nichupté Lagoon side. I will schedule our couple’s session to capture the stunning soft light of the “Golden Hour” on the beach, but if you want the sun actually setting into the water, we can head to the lagoon-facing terraces or upper-level balconies. Where are the best spots for a “First Look” away from guests?
Because the resort is a high-rise tower, the main pool decks and lobby bars are often lively. However, I know several secluded spots, such as the quieter hallways with floor-to-ceiling windows, the spa terrace area, or shaded corners near the gazebo that offer much more privacy. As your photographer, I scout these locations beforehand to ensure your intimate first look remains private and free of bystanders in the background.
Do we need a second shooter for a Secrets The Vine wedding?
Although Secrets The Vine is a vertical resort rather than a sprawling one, navigating the elevators and moving between floors can take time. I highly recommend a second shooter for comprehensive coverage. While I am with the bride in the suite, my second photographer can cover the groom getting ready or guest arrival at the ceremony site. Working with a team ensures we capture both perspectives without worrying about elevator logistics between floors.
