Wedding Photography at Punta Venado Beach Club

by Beach Weddings, Photo Shoots, Playa del Carmen (Riviera Maya)

Kimlee & Robyn brought us on board to capture their special day, and they went for the 8-hour photo shoot package. Their big day happened in April, and boy, was it a blast! The whole thing kicked off with them getting all dolled up at the Ocean Riviera Paradise hotel. Can you believe how stunning they both looked? We were all like, “These photos are gonna be epic!”

Then came the ceremony, and what a setting! They said their “I dos” right on the beach at Punta Venado Beach Club. The backdrop was a total dream – sun, sand, and the ocean waves. It was like something out of a fairy tale. Our cameras were snapping away like there was no tomorrow.

As the day rolled on, the party moved under this massive Mayan palapa for the reception and some serious dancing. The vibe was electric, and we made sure to capture all the laughter, tears, and killer dance moves. It was a picture-perfect day from start to finish, and we’re thrilled to share some of the absolute best shots with you. Enjoy!

Wedding Photographer FAQ’S

Can I bring my own external photographer to Punta Venado?

Yes! You are absolutely welcome to bring me in as your photographer. As a private beach club and eco-venue, Punta Venado is generally more flexible than large all-inclusive resorts, though they typically require an outside vendor fee to allow external professionals on-site. I highly recommend hiring a dedicated photographer because I am familiar with the rustic nature of this venue and know exactly how to navigate the specific entry logistics to ensure a seamless experience on your big day.

What are the best locations for wedding photos at the venue?

Punta Venado offers a unique “eco-chic” atmosphere that is very different from a standard hotel. I know exactly where to take you for the most organic backdrops. Whether it’s the dramatic architecture of the Grand Palapa, the untouched stretches of white sand (which are far less crowded than the hotel zone), or the lush jungle pathways surrounding the property, I know where the hidden gems are. This ensures we get a variety of romantic, natural looks without straying too far from your party.

Does the venue package include photography services?

While Punta Venado may offer packages with preferred vendors, these are often generalized services. My clients prefer hiring me independently to ensure a bespoke experience that captures the full narrative of the day—from the intimate getting-ready moments to the dance floor under the stars. When you work with me, I guarantee a consistent artistic style that complements the rustic elegance of the venue, creating a personal connection that goes far beyond a standard vendor list.

How do we handle the terrain for photos at an eco-park?

Because Punta Venado is a natural eco-park with sandy terrain and wooden pathways, moving around in wedding attire requires a bit more care than at a paved resort. I prioritize your comfort by guiding you through the most accessible routes to avoid exhausting treks through deep sand or dense brush. My experience here allows us to move efficiently between the ceremony area and the seaside portraits, maximizing your time celebrating with guests while I still capture those cinematic shots.

When is the best time for wedding photos in the Riviera Maya?

Lighting is everything in the Caribbean, especially at an open-air venue like this. The mid-day sun can be harsh, so I always recommend we schedule your romantic portraits during “Golden Hour,” roughly an hour before sunset. I will help you build your wedding timeline to take full advantage of this soft light, ensuring your oceanfront photos look dreamy rather than overexposed, while perfectly timing the transition from your beach ceremony to the reception under the Palapa.

Can we get sunset photos over the ocean at Punta Venado?

It is important to remember that on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, the sun rises over the ocean and sets over the jungle side. I will schedule our couple’s session to capture the stunning soft light of the “Golden Hour” on the beach, but if you truly want the sun coming up directly over the water, I might suggest a “First Look” session at sunrise. For the evening, I will position you to catch the beautiful colors filling the sky behind the palm trees and the rustic eco-chic structures.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

One of the things I love about this venue is its authentic tropical atmosphere. If tropical rain occurs, the massive “La Palapa” provides the perfect shelter. Its high, thatched roof offers a stunning, natural backdrop that keeps you dry while preserving that open-air beach feel. This beautiful covered area ensures I can keep your gallery organic, moody, and sophisticated regardless of the weather, without being confined to a standard hotel ballroom.

Is Punta Venado suitable for large weddings?

Absolutely. Punta Venado is a premier destination for those seeking privacy for larger celebrations because it offers exclusivity that hotels cannot match. The expansive beachfront provides ample space for large ceremony setups, dance floors on the sand, and elaborate reception structures. I am experienced in capturing these dynamic events, navigating the spacious layout to document the energy of the crowd without ever feeling restricted by the venue’s boundaries.

Where are the best spots for a “First Look” away from guests?

Because Punta Venado is a private eco-park, we have the distinct advantage of avoiding the crowds typical of all-inclusive resorts. I know several secluded spots, from the quiet jungle pathways to the rocky limestone outcroppings along the coast, that offer complete privacy. As your photographer, I scout these natural locations beforehand to ensure your intimate first look is magical, quiet, and completely free of bystanders.

Do we need a second shooter for a Punta Venado wedding?

While the venue itself is contained, the logistics of a Punta Venado wedding often involve travel. Since accommodation is not on-site, the getting-ready portion often happens at a separate hotel or Airbnb in Playa del Carmen. I highly recommend a second shooter to cover the groom’s preparations while I am with the bride, and to capture candid guest moments at the beach club while we are away taking your sunset portraits by the shore.
