Megan & Sean brought us on board to capture their special day, and they decided to roll with the 9-hour photo shoot – an epic adventure indeed. Their wedding, oh, it was a dream, and it all went down in February. We found ourselves at the stunning Hotel Xcaret Mexico, right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. We were excited beyond words, ready to work our magic!
The day kicked off with Megan and Sean doing their thing in their own little pre-wedding bubble – rooms, laughter, nerves, and all that good stuff. We were there to capture the candid, behind-the-scenes moments that truly make the day.
Then came the moment we’d all been waiting for – the intimate beach ceremony. Mother Nature smiled on us that day, and the golden sun and the sound of the waves created an unforgettable backdrop for Megan and Sean to say their “I dos.” Love was definitely in the air, and our cameras couldn’t have enough.
But that wasn’t the end of the adventure. The fun was just beginning! The reception and dinner were something out of a fairy tale, taking place inside the caves. Yes, you read that right – caves! It was unlike anything we’d ever seen, and we were right there, documenting every enchanting moment. The cave’s mystique added a touch of magic to the evening, making it a night to remember.
Now, we won’t keep you waiting any longer. Feast your eyes on a sneak peek of the cream of the crop photos from this incredible day. It’s a small selection, but it’ll give you a taste of the beauty and love that filled every corner of Megan and Sean’s wedding. Enjoy the journey with us!

Wedding Photographer FAQ’S
Can I bring my own external photographer to Hotel Xcaret Mexico?
Yes! You are absolutely welcome to bring me in as an outside vendor. Hotel Xcaret has a strict outside vendor policy that usually involves a fee, but if you book me as a guest (typically for a minimum of 3 nights), that fee is generally waived. This is actually the best option, as it gives me “All-Fun Inclusive” access to scout the location beforehand and allows me to navigate the resort’s specific vendor policies to ensure a seamless experience on your big day.
What are the best locations for wedding photos at the resort?
The resort is visually stunning—an eco-integrated paradise featuring caves, inlets, and jungle trails—but I know exactly where to take you for the most breathtaking backdrops. Whether it’s the panoramic views from the iconic Capilla de Todos los Angeles (Chapel of All Angels), the turquoise waters of the natural caletas (inlets), or the dramatic suspension bridges, I know where the hidden gems are. This ensures we get a huge variety of looks—from jungle to ocean—without wasting your precious time wandering the extensive property.
Does the resort package include photography services?
While some Hotel Xcaret packages include basic photography, it is often limited regarding hours and image count. My clients usually prefer hiring me independently to ensure full-day coverage—capturing everything from your getting-ready moments in the suites to the late-night reception party in the caves or ballrooms. When you work with me, I guarantee a consistent artistic style and a personal connection that goes far beyond the standard resort offerings.
How do we handle transportation for photos on such a unique property?
Because Hotel Xcaret is carved into the landscape with stairs, tunnels, and bridges, getting around in wedding attire requires planning. I prioritize your comfort by mapping out the most efficient routes between locations ahead of time. My logistical experience here allows us to navigate from the hilltop chapel to the secluded beaches or cenotes smoothly, maximizing your time celebrating with guests while I still capture those cinematic portraits.
When is the best time for wedding photos in the Riviera Maya?
Lighting is everything in the Caribbean. The mid-day sun can be incredibly harsh, so I always recommend we schedule your romantic portraits during “Golden Hour,” roughly an hour before sunset. I will help you build your wedding timeline to take full advantage of this soft light for your outdoor shots, while utilizing the resort’s natural shade and caves for stunning portraits earlier in the day to avoid overexposure.
Can we get sunset photos over the ocean at Hotel Xcaret?
It is important to remember that on the Riviera Maya, the sun rises over the Caribbean Sea and sets over the jungle side. I will schedule our couple’s session to capture the stunning soft light of the “Golden Hour” near the inlets and coves, but if you truly want the sun coming up directly over the water, I might suggest a “First Look” session at sunrise. For the evening, I will position you to catch the beautiful colors reflecting off the riverways and the eco-integrated architecture.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
One of the best features of Hotel Xcaret is its unique eco-architecture that blends with nature. If tropical rain occurs, I know exactly where to find the best sheltered locations, such as the magnificent stone tunnels, the underground caves (Las Cuevas), or the covered corridors near the spiral pyramid that offer dramatic natural light without getting wet. These backup spots ensure I can keep your gallery adventurous and sophisticated regardless of the weather.
Is Hotel Xcaret suitable for large weddings?
Absolutely. Hotel Xcaret is a premier destination for grand celebrations because of its diverse venue options, from the iconic “Capilla de Todos los Ángeles” on the hill to the expansive “Las Cuevas” for receptions. I am well-versed in navigating these unique spaces, understanding the critical angles needed for the Chapel’s panoramic views, and how to light the cavernous reception areas to capture the atmosphere and your guests perfectly.
Where are the best spots for a “First Look” away from guests?
Because the resort acts as both a hotel and an eco-park, the main infinity pools and Mercado areas can be bustling. However, I know several secluded jungle trails, quiet river docks, and hidden coves near the “Casa Fuego” area that offer much more privacy. As your photographer, I scout these secluded locations beforehand to ensure your intimate first look remains private and free of bystanders in the background.
Do we need a second shooter for a Hotel Xcaret wedding?
Given the unique layout of the property—which involves navigating suspension bridges, winding jungle paths, and shuttles to get from “Casa Tierra” to the beach or the Chapel—I highly recommend a second shooter. While I am with the bride, my second photographer can cover the groom getting ready in a different Casa. Working with a team ensures that we don’t miss a single moment while travelling between these stunning, yet spread-out locations.
