Kathryn and Jack decided to have us as their wedding photographers, and they went all in with a full 10-hour photo shoot! It was smack-dab in the heart of February when we joined them at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort. The whole shebang went down at this super charming Chapel of Santa María del Secreto in Playa del Secreto, and let me tell you, it was a spot and a half.

Yes! You are absolutely welcome to bring me in as an outside vendor. The resort does require an outside vendor fee, but if you book me as a guest for a minimum of 3 nights, that fee is usually waived under current policies. I highly recommend hiring a dedicated photographer because I am already familiar with the specific vendor policies here and know how to navigate the resort’s logistics to ensure a seamless experience on your big day.
What are the best locations for wedding photos at the resort and Playa del Secreto?
The resort offers a unique layout with its octagonal rooms and tropical density, but I know exactly where to take you for the most stunning backdrops. Whether it’s the iconic wooden pier extending over the water, the lush gardens near the “Stairway to Heaven” gazebo, or the secluded, pristine sands of the Playa del Secreto neighborhood, I know where the hidden gems are. This ensures we get a huge variety of looks without wasting your precious time wandering the property.
Does the resort package include photography services?
While some Dreams Resort packages include basic photography, it is often limited regarding hours and image count. My clients usually prefer hiring me independently to ensure full-day coverage—capturing everything from your getting-ready moments to the late-night reception party. When you work with me, I guarantee a consistent artistic style and a personal connection that goes far beyond the standard resort offerings.
How do we handle moving between locations at the resort?
One of the best features of Dreams Riviera Cancun is that it is intimate and walkable, unlike the massive mega-resorts nearby. I prioritize your comfort by planning a route that flows naturally through the shaded garden pathways. My logistical experience here allows us to move easily between the lobby staircase, the gazebo, and the beach quickly, maximizing your time celebrating with guests while I still capture those cinematic portraits.
When is the best time for wedding photos in Puerto Morelos?
Lighting is everything in the Riviera Maya. The mid-day sun can be incredibly harsh, so I always recommend we schedule your romantic portraits during “Golden Hour,” roughly an hour before sunset. I will help you build your wedding timeline to take full advantage of this soft light, ensuring your oceanfront photos look dreamy rather than overexposed, while perfectly timing the transition from your ceremony to the reception.
Can we get sunset photos over the ocean at Dreams Riviera Cancun & Playa del Secreto?
It is important to remember that on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, the sun rises over the ocean and sets over the jungle side. I will schedule our couple’s session to capture the stunning soft light of the “Golden Hour” on the beach, but if you truly want the sun coming up directly over the water, I might suggest a “First Look” session at sunrise. For the evening, I will position you to catch the beautiful colors filling the sky behind the resort’s lush tropical gardens.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
One of the things I love about Dreams Riviera Cancun is its unique architecture. If tropical rain occurs, I know exactly where to find the best indoor locations, such as the magnificent open-air lobby with its stunning wooden beams, the grand staircase, or the covered terraces that offer natural light while keeping you dry. These backup spots ensure I can keep your gallery sophisticated and varied regardless of the weather.
Is Dreams Riviera Cancun suitable for large weddings?
Absolutely. Dreams Riviera Cancun is a premier destination for South Asian and large multicultural weddings because they have spacious venues like the Ocean Deck and the wedding gazebo area that can accommodate a Baraat and Mandap structures. I am well-versed in these multi-day events, understanding the critical angles needed for the Sangeet, and how to navigate the lively crowds to capture every ritual perfectly.
Where are the best spots for a “First Look” away from guests?
Because the resort is family-friendly, the main pool and deck areas can be lively. However, I know several secluded spots, including the lush jungle pathways, the quiet garden corners near the spa, and the stretch of beach toward Playa del Secreto that offers much more privacy. As your photographer, I scout these secluded locations beforehand to ensure your intimate first look remains private and free of bystanders.
Do we need a second shooter for a wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun?
While Dreams Riviera Cancun is more compact and walkable than some of the mega-resorts, I still highly recommend a second shooter. This allows us to capture simultaneous moments; while I am with the bride, my second photographer can cover the groom getting ready or capture guest reactions at the cocktail hour. Working with a team ensures that we provide comprehensive coverage without rushing between locations.
