Wedding Photography at Moon Palace Nizuc Cancun

by Cancun (Riviera Maya), Gazebo-Style Weddings, Photo Shoots

Laura and Randall brought us on board as their wedding photographers, and let me tell you, it was a blast! These two lovebirds decided to roll with a 12-hour photo shoot, and we were more than up for the challenge. We headed down to the Moon Palace Resort in sunny Cancun for their big day.

First up, we had Randall getting himself all spruced up in the Moon Grand area. I could tell he was all nerves and excitement, just like any groom on his big day. Meanwhile, Laura was doing her thing over in the Nizuc, and let me tell you, she was an absolute vision in that bridal gown. We had a field day capturing those precious pre-ceremony moments.

The ceremony itself? Well, folks, it went down at this beautiful spot known as the Gazebo, right next to the beach. Talk about a dreamy backdrop! Laura and Randall exchanged their vows with the waves crashing in the background, and it was a sight to behold. We made sure to capture all those heartfelt moments for them.

After the “I do’s” and the heartfelt speeches, it was time to let loose and celebrate. Dinner and dancing were on the menu, and we all headed to an outdoor terrace at the same Moon Palace. The atmosphere was electric, and everyone was having a blast. We couldn’t resist snapping some epic shots of the dance floor action.

And there you have it, folks – the best snapshots from Laura and Randall’s special day. It was a privilege being a part of their wedding adventure, and we’re so stoked to share these memories with you. Cheers to the happy couple!

Moon Palace Nizuc Photographer FAQ’S

Can I bring my own external photographer to Moon Palace Nizuc?

Yes! You are absolutely welcome to bring me in as an outside vendor for your wedding at the Nizuc section. The resort requires an outside vendor fee, but if you book me as a guest for a minimum of 3 nights, that fee is usually waived. I highly recommend hiring a dedicated photographer because I am already familiar with the specific vendor policies at Nizuc and know how to navigate the lobby and garden logistics to ensure a seamless experience on your big day.

What are the best locations for wedding photos at Nizuc?

While we have access to the whole complex, the Nizuc section offers some of the most elegant and relaxed backdrops. I know exactly where to take you to avoid the crowds found at Sunrise. Whether it’s the dramatic views from the exclusive Nizuc Pier, the palm-lined walkways near the spa, or the classic architecture of the Nizuc Garden Gazebo, I know where the hidden gems are. This ensures we get a huge variety of looks without wasting your precious time wandering the massive property.

Does the resort package include photography services?

While some Moon Palace packages include basic photography, it is often limited regarding hours and image count. My clients usually prefer hiring me independently to ensure full-day coverage—capturing everything from your getting-ready moments in the Nizuc suites to the late-night reception party. When you work with me, I guarantee a consistent artistic style and a personal connection that goes far beyond the standard resort offerings.

How do we handle transportation for photos on such a large property?

Even though the Nizuc section feels more intimate than Sunrise, walking from the lobby to the oceanfront gazebos in wedding attire can be exhausting. I prioritize your comfort by coordinating golf cart transportation with the concierge ahead of time. My logistical experience here allows us to zip between the grand staircase and the secluded beach areas quickly, maximizing your time celebrating with guests while I still capture those cinematic portraits.

When is the best time for wedding photos in Cancun?

Lighting is everything in the Caribbean. The mid-day sun can be incredibly harsh, so I always recommend we schedule your romantic portraits during “Golden Hour,” roughly an hour before sunset. I will help you build your wedding timeline to take full advantage of this soft light, ensuring your photos on the Nizuc beach look dreamy rather than overexposed, while perfectly timing the transition from your ceremony to the reception.

Can we get sunset photos over the ocean at Moon Palace Nizuc?

It is important to remember that on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, the sun rises over the ocean and sets over the jungle side. I will schedule our couple’s session to capture the stunning soft light of the “Golden Hour” near the Nizuc pier or on the beach, but if you truly want the sun coming up directly over the water, I might suggest a “First Look” session at sunrise. For the evening, I will position you to catch the beautiful colors filling the sky behind the Nizuc architectural backdrop.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

One of the things I love about the Nizuc section is its sophisticated indoor aesthetic. If tropical rain occurs, I know exactly where to find the best indoor locations, such as the elegant Nizuc lobby with its floor-to-ceiling glass and modern chandeliers, or the covered walkways connecting the restaurants that offer natural light without the rain. These backup spots ensure I can keep your gallery sophisticated and varied regardless of the weather.

Is Moon Palace Nizuc suitable for large weddings?

Absolutely. The Nizuc section is a premier destination for South Asian and large-scale weddings because they can easily handle horses for the Baraat along the driveway and accommodate large structures in the Nizuc Garden. I am well-versed in these multi-day events, understanding the critical angles needed for the Sangeet, how to capture the intricate details of the Mehndi, and how to navigate the spacious Nizuc terrace to capture every ritual perfectly.

Where are the best spots for a “First Look” away from guests?

While Nizuc is generally a bit more relaxed than the Sunrise section, the main pool and lobby bar can still be bustling. However, I know several secluded spots, such as the quiet garden areas behind the guest wings and stretches of beach further away from the main swimming area that offer much more privacy. As your photographer, I scout these secluded locations beforehand to ensure your intimate first look remains private and free of bystanders in the background.

Do we need a second shooter for a Moon Palace Nizuc wedding?

Given the sheer size of the Moon Palace complex—where guests might be staying at The Grand or Sunrise while your wedding is at Nizuc—I highly recommend a second shooter. While I am with the bride at the Nizuc spa or suite, my second photographer can cover the groom getting ready at the Golf Course villas or a different section. Working with a team ensures that we don’t miss a single moment while travelling between these distant locations.
