Step 1: The Initial Consultation
Connecting Before Committing
The process begins with a conversation. Photography is personal, and I believe it is essential for us to connect and discuss your vision before any paperwork is signed. This is our “vibe check.” I want to hear about your story, your venue, and what matters most to you.
In-Person or Virtual
If you are local to the Riviera Maya, I love meeting in person. However, since many of my couples plan destination weddings from abroad, I offer video calls or phone consultations. During this meeting, we can go over your expectations, answer any specific questions you have about packages, and ensure that I am the perfect fit for your wedding day.
Step 2: Securing the Date (Contract & Deposit)
The Paperwork
Once you decide to move forward, I will send you a contract. This document protects both of us, clearly outlining the coverage hours, deliverables, and terms of service. Everything we discussed is put in writing so there are never any surprises regarding what is included in your package.
The Deposit
To officially lock in your date, a 50% deposit is required along with the signed contract. I use Stripe for payments, which allows for secure and easy transactions via major credit and debit cards. This platform is widely trusted and ensures your financial data is handled safely.
The Value of Exclusivity
Your Date is Yours Alone
Why is the deposit necessary? It guarantees exclusivity. I am not a large agency that farms out weddings to random shooters. When you book Adrian Bonet, you get Adrian Bonet.
Turning Down Other Inquiries
Once your deposit is received, I immediately mark your date as “booked” on my calendar. This means I turn down all other inquiries for that day, regardless of the budget. The deposit is your guarantee that I will be there, fully committed to your celebration, and it compensates for the business I refuse in order to save your spot.
Step 3: What Happens After Booking?
The Planning Phase
We don’t just go silent until the wedding day. After booking, we continue to communicate regularly. I work with you and your planner to develop a photography timeline, ensuring we have time for all the key shots without rushing. We will also discuss any specific shot lists or unique details you want captured.
Final Payment
The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your wedding day. This policy allows you to get the financial logistics out of the way early, so in the final weeks leading up to the wedding, you can focus on the fun details rather than worrying about vendor payments.
When Should You Book?
The 12-18 Month Rule
The Riviera Maya is a world-class wedding destination, and prime dates fill up fast. I recommend booking your photography services 12 to 18 months in advance. This is especially important if you are getting married during peak seasons (Spring and Fall) or on popular weekend dates.
Last-Minute Inquiries
Did you just get engaged and are planning a wedding in three months? Don’t hesitate to reach out. While my calendar fills up quickly, I always try to accommodate last-minute bookings whenever my schedule allows. It is always worth asking!
Final Thoughts
Planning a wedding involves a million moving parts, but hiring your photographer shouldn’t be complicated. My booking process is designed to be efficient and transparent, giving you the security of knowing your memories are in safe hands.
From our first conversation to the final delivery of your gallery, my goal is to build a relationship of trust. By handling the logistics upfront with a clear contract and secure payment process, we clear the way to focus on what really matters: creating artful, timeless images of your love story.
