Wedding Running Late? Overtime Policy Explained

by FAQ's

You planned the timeline down to the minute, but on the wedding day, reality had other plans. Maybe the speeches went twenty minutes over, or the dinner service was slower than expected. Suddenly, you realize the cake cutting hasn’t happened yet, and your photographer’s contracted hours are about to expire.

A common source of anxiety for couples is: Can you stay longer if the wedding runs late? The answer is a resounding Yes. I am there to document your story, not to watch the clock and sprint to the exit the moment my time is up. This post explains Adrian Bonet Photography’s flexible approach to overtime, ensuring you never have to worry about missing a moment due to a delayed schedule.

Do not let logistics stress you out. Secure a photographer who knows the area inside and out. Contact Adrian Bonet Photography to check availability for your venue today.

The Unpredictable Nature of Weddings

Timelines are Guides, Not Laws

In my years of experience photographing weddings in the Riviera Maya, I have learned that very few weddings run exactly on time. A “sunset ceremony” might start 15 minutes late; a zipper might get stuck; a shuttle bus might hit traffic. These delays are normal.

Commitment to the Story

My philosophy is storytelling first. If the highlight of the evening—like the fireworks display or the sparkler exit—is pushed back by an hour, I don’t want to miss it any more than you do. I am committed to capturing the complete narrative, even if that narrative takes a little longer than we anticipated.

How We Decide on the Spot

Checking In

I will never just pack up my gear and leave without saying a word. If we are nearing the end of our contracted time and key events haven’t happened yet, I will approach you (or your wedding planner) quietly.

You Make the Call

I will simply ask: “We have about 30 minutes left, but we haven’t done the cake cutting yet. Would you like me to stay for an extra hour?” This puts the control in your hands. You can decide right then and there if you want to extend the coverage or if you are happy with what we have captured so far.

Transparent Billing for Overtime

No Surprise Fees

My overtime policy is transparent. Any extra time beyond the contracted package is billed at a standard hourly rate. We will have discussed this rate during the booking process, so there are no surprises.

Handle It Later

You do not need to pull out a credit card on the dance floor. If you verbally approve the overtime on the wedding day, I will simply add it to your final invoice or send a separate link after the wedding. I want you to stay focused on partying, not on administrative tasks.

Peace of Mind Guarantee

Relax and Enjoy

Knowing that this flexibility exists allows you to relax. You don’t need to spend your reception checking your watch or stressing out because the speeches are rambling on. You can trust that I am monitoring the timeline and that I have your back if we need to go into overtime.

Capturing the “Late Night” Magic

Sometimes, couples ask me to stay longer simply because the party is incredible. If the dance floor is packed and crazy moments are happening, extending coverage by an hour can result in some of the most fun, energetic candid photos of the entire day.

When you book Adrian Bonet Photography, you are securing a partner who is invested in your memories. Whether we finish right on time or stay an extra two hours to catch the last dance, my goal remains the same: to ensure your story is told completely and beautifully.
